Build Your Own Buddha Bowl: Fresh, Simple & Full of Flavour
Sometimes the best meals are the simplest ones.
When we’re catering for business lunches or retreats around Newbury and West Berkshire, Buddha Bowls are always a hit — vibrant, nourishing, and endlessly flexible.
Whether you’re feeding a team or just yourself, this is one of those recipes you can make your own every single time.
So, what is a Buddha Bowl?
It’s basically a big, happy bowl of goodness — a mix of grains, fresh veggies, protein and dressing.
The idea is balance: colour, texture and flavour all in one bowl.
How to build one (Colline’s way!)
Here’s the rough formula we use when prepping for events:
Base: cooked grains like brown rice, quinoa, or couscous.
Veggies: a mix of raw and roasted — think carrots, red cabbage, courgette, or peppers.
Protein: chicken, tofu, salmon, or even roasted chickpeas.
Crunch: seeds, nuts or crispy onions.
Dressing: Colline’s favourite — a mix of olive oil, soy sauce, a squeeze of lime, and a dash of honey.
Simple, colourful and full of flavour.
Why we love them for catering
They travel well, look beautiful, and suit all dietary needs — which makes them ideal for office lunches, wellness events and yoga retreats.
Plus, they’re the kind of dish that makes people pause mid-bite and go “wow, that’s fresh.”
Try it at home
Next time you’re making lunch, open the fridge and see what you’ve got — it’s amazing how easily you can put one together.
Start with grains, add colour, drizzle with your dressing, and there you go — your very own Buddha Bowl moment.
